PROJECT INTRODUCTION
The design of the observation deck transforms the ascent to the observation deck into a rich visual and physical experience. Curved aluminium panels cover the entire observation deck. Perforated aluminium panels with holes resembling thousands of water droplets, ranging in diameter from 0.5 cm to 3 cm, ensure a 70% opening rate at horizon height, and the inward curving of the perforated aluminium panels creates its own structural stiffness, minimizing the need for fixtures to support the gallery floor slabs.
In addition, the curved surfaces induce a rich variety of light changes, such as reflections, passages and overlaps, depending on the viewing angle. These variations, along with the massing of the interior heavy concrete core, create a colorful sense of depth at all times of the day.
